I wrote about this a bit for my work newsletter (Scene by Rough Draft, if you want to support my professional endeavors!), but I wanted to bring it here and expound on it for you fine folks.
Last year, I decided I was going to get really into physical media. You might be thinking, you’re a little late, Sam – and you’d be right! But movies disappear from streaming services all the time. Studios can decide to take a movie off a streaming platform whenever they want. You might have a Disney+ account, but in no way does that mean the Disney+ catalogue belongs to you. As much as streaming is a daily part of our lives now, the future is still murky. And I, for one, want to be prepared. This is like my version of doomsday prepping – I’m like that little girl at the end of Leave the World Behind watching Friends while the world goes to shit. Maybe I don’t know where my parents are, but at least I know that Rachel got off the plane!
